AI credits pay for image, video, website and workflow generation in Clyentra. Learn the price per credit, the cost of every AI action, and how to top up.

AI credits are the currency behind Clyentra's generative features. This guide tells you exactly what a credit costs, exactly which actions spend them, and which AI features are free — so you can budget before you generate rather than after.
What a credit costs
One credit costs $0.10. Credits sit on your organization, not on your user, so anyone with the right permission draws from the same pool.
Credits are separate from your subscription. Your plan does not expire your credits and buying credits does not change your plan. See subscription-billing for the plan side.
Check your balance
Your balance shows up in two places: as a credits pill in the account menu in the top bar, and as the Credits tile on the Usage & Billing screen at /usage. Glance at the pill before you queue up a big generation run.
What each action costs
These are the credit costs for every action in the product that spends them.

Video is the expensive one: Video costs 50 credits per second. A 4-second clip is 200 credits ($20); an 8-second clip is 400 credits ($40). Video credits are non-refundable — the video studio states this explicitly. Get the prompt right before you press generate. See ai-video-studio.
Images are the cheap end of the scale at 2 credits ($0.20) per generation, remix or retouch — so iterating on an image is nearly free compared to iterating on a video. Details are in ai-image-studio.
What is free
Plenty of the AI in Clyentra costs nothing. These never touch your balance:
- The Clyentra operator, opened with
⌘J. - The Agentic AI page.
- AI Insights on dashboards — see business-dashboards.
- The prompt "enhance" buttons that improve a prompt before you spend anything on it.
- Manual editing of a generated website, applying themes, rolling back to an earlier version, and publishing — see ai-website-builder.
Enhance first, generate once: The prompt enhance buttons are free. Use them to sharpen a prompt before you spend 5 credits on a website or 200 on a video. It is the cheapest quality improvement available to you.
Buy credits
- Open the top-up dialog. Go to
/usageand pressBuy AI Creditson thePlan & Billingtab. The dialog is titledBuy AI Credits. - Pick a pack or a custom amount. Four preset packs are offered. Or type any number into the custom field — the minimum is 10 credits. Go lower and the dialog shows
Minimum 10 credits requiredand blocks the purchase. - Check the total. The summary at the bottom shows the total and the unit maths, and the confirm button reads
Buy {n} credits. - Pay on Stripe. The purchase runs through Stripe Checkout, the same hosted page as your subscription. Clyentra never handles your card.
- Land back on the confirmation. Stripe returns you to Clyentra, which verifies the payment and shows

Budgeting for a real project
A worked example. Acme Inc. in Portland wants a landing page and a short promo clip for a product launch.
- Enhance the brief into a PRD — 1 credit.
- Generate the website — 5 credits.
- Two AI change requests to fix the hero and the pricing table — 6 credits.
- Four product images, one retouched twice — 12 credits.
- One 6-second promo video — 300 credits.
- Total: 324 credits, or $32.40. The 500-credit pack covers it with room to spare.
The lesson generalises: everything except video is small change. Plan your credit purchases around how much video you intend to make.
Who can top up
Buying credits needs the Subscription permission at Editor level — the same permission that governs plans and seats. Anyone with Viewer can see the balance but not add to it. Set this per role in roles-and-permissions.
If a generation fails: Clyentra does not promise an automatic refund for a failed generation, and video credits are explicitly non-refundable. If something went wrong on our side, write to support@clyentra.ai with the organization name and roughly when it happened.
Questions people ask
How much is one AI credit?
$0.10. The top-up dialog also shows the unit price under the total, so 100 credits is $10.00.
Why did a short video cost hundreds of credits?
Video is billed at 50 credits per second, so a 4-second clip costs 200 credits and an 8-second clip costs 400. It is by far the most expensive action in the product — everything else is in the 1-5 credit range.
Do I get credits back if a generation fails or I dislike the result?
No. Clyentra does not guarantee an automatic refund for a failed generation, and the video studio states that video credits are non-refundable. Use the free prompt enhance buttons before you spend, and iterate on cheap images rather than expensive video.
What is the smallest top-up I can make?
10 credits, for $1.00. Enter anything lower in the custom field and the dialog shows Minimum 10 credits required and will not let you continue.
Does the AI assistant cost credits?
No. The Clyentra operator (⌘J), the Agentic AI page, AI Insights on dashboards and the prompt enhance buttons are all free. Credits are only spent on generation — images, video, websites, PRDs and AI-drafted workflows.
Do credits expire at the end of the month?
Credits are a balance on your organization, topped up by purchase. They are not a monthly allowance that resets, and buying credits does not change your subscription plan.
Can everyone on my team spend credits?
Anyone whose role grants access to the AI tools can spend from the shared organization balance. Only roles with the Subscription permission at Editor level can buy more.
