Integrations

Connect Stripe for payments and tax, Google Analytics for reporting, Vercel for publishing and WhatsApp Business for messaging — plus where SMTP and social channels actually live.

Integrations are what turn Clyentra from a workspace into a connected one — taking card payments, reporting on real traffic, publishing sites to the web, and messaging customers on WhatsApp. This guide covers all four, and tells you where to find the two things people always look for here and never find.

Go to /settings/integrations. The screen is titled Integrations — "Manage your integrations". It has exactly four tabs: Stripe, Google Analytics, Vercel and WhatsApp.

Two things that are not on this screen: Email/SMTP lives at Settings → Notifications, not here. Social channels (the accounts you post to) are connected in the Marketing hub's Channels tab — see marketing-hub. Both are covered at the bottom of this guide.

Stripe: two ways to take payments

The Stripe tab is where card payments come from. It powers orders and invoices — see orders-invoices-payments — and checkout on your hosted storefronts. Pick one of two modes.

ModeWhat it meansBest for
Connect Mode"We create and manage a Stripe account on your behalf. No API keys required from you — we handle everything."Most businesses. Nothing to configure, no keys to handle
Direct Mode"Use your own Stripe account. Provide your secret and publishable keys — payments go directly to your Stripe account, not through us."Businesses that already run Stripe and want payments landing in the account they have

If in doubt, use Connect Mode: Connect Mode means you never copy an API key, never rotate one, and never leak one. Choose Direct Mode only when you have an existing Stripe account that payments must flow into.

Connect Mode, step by step

  1. Select Connect Mode. Open the Stripe tab and pick Connect Mode. The active mode is marked with an Active badge.
  2. Enter your email. Clyentra uses it to create the Stripe account.
  3. Press Connect with Stripe. You are handed to Stripe's own onboarding — business details, bank account, identity verification. This is Stripe's flow, on Stripe's servers.
  4. Come back and check the status. Clyentra shows a status panel with Account ID, Onboarding (Completed or Incomplete), Charges (Enabled or Disabled) and Payouts (Enabled or Disabled).

Incomplete onboarding means no money: Stripe onboarding often pauses waiting on a document or a bank detail. Until Charges reads Enabled, you cannot take payments. If the status panel shows Incomplete, press Continue Onboarding and finish it. Don't discover this at launch.

Two more buttons live on the connected card. Reconnect Stripe starts fresh against a different Stripe account. Disconnect cuts the link entirely.

Direct Mode, step by step

  1. Select Direct Mode. Pick Direct Mode in the mode selector, then press Enable Direct Mode.
  2. Paste your secret key. The Secret Key field expects a live key — the placeholder shows the shape, sk_live_xxx or rk_live_xxx. It is stored encrypted and never shown back to you.
  3. Paste your publishable key. The Publishable Key field expects pk_live_xxx. Both keys are required — the form rejects the save with only one.
  4. Save. Payments now flow directly into your own Stripe account. To go back, press Switch to Connect Mode.

Treat the secret key like a password: A live secret key can move real money. Copy it straight from the Stripe dashboard into Clyentra — do not paste it into chat, a ticket or a spreadsheet on the way. Once saved, Clyentra shows it as "Saved and encrypted — never exposed" and will not display it again.

Stripe Tax: how sales tax and VAT get handled

Once Stripe is connected in Connect Mode, a Stripe Tax card appears — "Configure tax registrations and let Stripe calculate taxes automatically for your transactions." This is how tax works in Clyentra. You do not type in percentage rates.

The card tells you whether you have active registrations or shows "Not configured — no active tax registrations." Press Configure Tax in Stripe to set up the jurisdictions you are registered in. Stripe then applies the right jurisdiction-aware rate to each transaction on its own.

This connects back to your tax codes: In organization-settings, the tax form on Stripe organizations captures a Tax Code label only — no percentage. That is because the number comes from here. Register the jurisdictions in Stripe and the maths takes care of itself.

Google Analytics

The Google Analytics tab feeds real traffic data into your analytics dashboard. Two fields, both required.

  • Property ID — the GA4 property you want to read.
  • Service Account JSON — paste the whole JSON key file for a Google service account that has access to that property. Clyentra validates the JSON and rejects it if it will not parse.

Save, and the dashboard starts drawing on live numbers instead of nothing. See business-dashboards.

Vercel

The Vercel tab has a single required field: Vercel Token. That is the entire integration — no project ID, nothing else to fill in.

It matters more than its size suggests. The Vercel token is what lets Clyentra publish to the web, so it powers both ai-website-builder and hosted-storefronts.

No token, no publishing: You can build and edit a website or a storefront in Clyentra without ever touching this tab. You cannot put it on the internet. If publishing fails, check here first.

WhatsApp Business

The WhatsApp tab connects a WhatsApp Business account through Meta's embedded signup, so the whole authorization happens on Meta's side and no tokens pass through your hands.

  1. Choose your starting point. Pick Create a new WhatsApp Business setup if you are starting from scratch, or Connect an existing WhatsApp Business account if the business already uses the WhatsApp Business App and wants to keep using it.
  2. Press Connect Now. A Meta window opens. The button changes to Continue in Meta while it is open — finish the flow there.
  3. Confirm the connection. Come back to Clyentra. Connected numbers are listed under Connected WhatsApp Accounts with the Account name, Display phone number, Business account ID and Status.

Once connected, the number feeds the WhatsApp tab inside Chat, so customer conversations land in the same place as your internal ones. See team-chat.

Email and SMTP

Mail is configured at /settings/notifications — the Mail Settings screen, "Configure your mail settings". Its SMTP Configuration section takes five required fields.

FieldExample
SMTP ProviderGmail, SendGrid
SMTP Serversmtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port587 or 465
UsernameUsually your email address
PasswordYour SMTP password or API key

There are no per-event notification toggles: The Notifications screen is the mail server configuration — it is not a list of switches for which events email you. Set the SMTP credentials once and Clyentra sends through them.

Social channels

The accounts you publish social posts to are not connected here. They live in the Channels tab of the Marketing hub. See marketing-hub and compose-and-schedule-posts.

Who can connect integrations

Every tab on this screen is gated by the Settings permission at Editor level. With Viewer you can see the connection status but the fields are disabled and the save and disconnect buttons do not appear. Grant it in roles-and-permissions.

A sensible connection order: Stripe first (nothing sells without it, and Charges must read Enabled), then Vercel (nothing ships without it), then WhatsApp and Google Analytics — those improve the workspace but nothing is blocked while they wait.

Questions people ask

Should I use Connect Mode or Direct Mode for Stripe?

Connect Mode unless you have a reason not to. Clyentra creates and manages the Stripe account for you and no API keys ever change hands. Choose Direct Mode only when you already have a Stripe account that payments must land in — then you supply your own Secret Key and Publishable Key.

Stripe says connected but I can't take payments. What's wrong?

Check the status panel on the Stripe tab. Charges must read Enabled. If Onboarding reads Incomplete, Stripe is still waiting on something from you — press Continue Onboarding and finish their flow.

Where do I enter my sales tax or VAT rates?

You don't. On Stripe organizations, tax is handled by Stripe Tax — open the Stripe Tax card on the Stripe tab and press Configure Tax in Stripe to register your jurisdictions. Stripe then calculates the correct rate per transaction. Clyentra's own tax form only captures a Tax Code label.

What does the Vercel integration need besides the token?

Nothing. Vercel Token is the single required field — there is no project ID. But without it, websites and hosted storefronts cannot be published, so it is not optional if you intend to ship anything.

I can't find SMTP settings on the Integrations screen.

They are not there. Mail is configured at /settings/notifications — the Mail Settings screen, under SMTP Configuration: SMTP Provider, SMTP Server, SMTP Port (587 or 465), Username and Password.

Where do I connect my social accounts?

In the Marketing hub's Channels tab, not on this screen. The Integrations screen has exactly four tabs — Stripe, Google Analytics, Vercel and WhatsApp. See marketing-hub.

Do I need a Meta developer account to connect WhatsApp?

No. Clyentra uses Meta's embedded signup: you choose whether you are creating a new WhatsApp Business setup or connecting an existing account, press Connect Now, and complete the authorization inside Meta's own window. Connected numbers then appear under Connected WhatsApp Accounts.
